I’m not much of a storyteller, and much less of a cartoonist, but I think Autisman is an idea that could be a big success with the right artist(s).

The character may be used by anybody (for cartoons, stories and anything else) without me claiming any royalties or other payments, under the conditions that
- they follow the character and story outline below
- they credit me, Frank L. Ludwig, with the creation of the character
- they inform me of their project

Stories/cartoons about Autisman should follow this outline:

Autisman is Ted Stevens, simply known as Gramps by his daughter’s family (with whom he lives), is autistic and would be considered low-functioning by those who apply labels, but the family are not aware of his neurology and simply put his odd behaviour down to old age and senility.
When any family member has a problem and talks about it in the sitting room, he retires to his own room where he exclaims, ‘This is a job for Autisman!’ and commences to solve the problem in an autistic (i.e. original) way, unbeknownst to the others. (He has no supernatural powers, though, just autistic powers.)

The rest of the family consist of
- George Sampson (father)
- Hannah Sampson (mother)
- Peter (son, 9 years old)
- Minnie (daughter, 7 years old)

Autistic powers include, but are not limited to:
- original thought (‘thinking outside the box’)
- increased sense of fairness
- hyperfocus
- attention to detail
- resistance to peer pressure
- questioning of status quo
- immunity to advertising
- recognition of patterns

In order to give you an idea of Autisman I have written these children's stories about him:

1. Hanging On by Frank L. Ludwig

2. Rain on Thursdays by Frank L. Ludwig
